Job Summary:

As a Catering Executive Chef at the University of Pittsburgh, you will oversee catering and culinary operations, ensuring a safe, sanitary environment and high-quality food presentation. The University of Pittsburgh campus, located in the Oakland neighborhood, features scenic views and hosts approximately $5 million in catering events annually, including coffee, breakfast, box lunches, and high-end buffets and plated events for up to 500 guests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan menus according to guidelines
• Follow recipes, portion, and presentation standards; monitor quality
• Train staff in food prep, safety, and sanitation
• Maintain cleaning schedules and equipment upkeep
• Manage inventory and food costs
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development

Preferred Qualifications:

• A.S. degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years in culinary/kitchen management, catering experience a plus
• High-volume, complex foodservice experience preferred
• Hands-on chef experience required
• Knowledge of food trends, sanitation, and cost controls
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet use
• ServSafe certification is highly desirable
