Wearefoundingfarmers seeks an Event Kitchen Assistant to support catering events by setting up, preparing, plating, serving, and breakdown. You will travel to venues across the Washington, DC area and surrounding states, arrive on time in proper attire, and maintain a friendly, guest-focused demeanor.

This on-call, part-time role offers flexible hours including evenings and weekends, with opportunities to earn extra income as part of our growing catering team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a kitchen assistant or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment; good knife skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Set up kitchen equipment, including tables, tablecloths, crescors, trash cans, and other event equipment.
• Assists with food preparation, including chopping/slicing and re-heating food items to the appropriate temperature.
• Assist with food service tasks, including plating and serving dishes, and ensuring that all food is presented following company standards.
• Serve as a station attendant when assigned, interacting professionally with guests.
• Breakdown kitchen equipment, including tables, crescors, trash/recycling, and other event equipment, and ensuring everything is returned to its correct container/area.
• Follow all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, cleanliness, and guest service.
• All other duties as assigned.

CATERING EVENT KITCHEN ASSISTANT

The Event Kitchen Assistant supports culinary leadership during catering events by assisting with setup, preparation, service, and breakdown. Success in this role requires arriving on time and in proper attire for every event, bringing positive energy and professionalism to each shift, and consistently delivering exceptional service with a friendly, guest focused demeanor.

This position requires reliable transportation to off premise and on-site catering events throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area, Virginia, and Maryland. Candidates must have the ability to travel to and from event locations as needed. The catering production center is located in District Heights Maryland. This is a great opportunity for those looking to earn additional income as part of our growing catering and event staff. This is a pick up and on call position, events may occur weekends, nights and daytime hours throughout the week, making this perfect for flexible scheduling.

WHAT OUR EVENT KITCHEN ASSISTANT DOES:

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE AN EVENT KITCHEN ASSISTANT:

• Previous experience as a kitchen assistant, or related field preferred
• Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment; good knife skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds, as needed
• Capable of continuous bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and use of hands and arms
• Ability to lift and carry trays, equipment, or supplies as needed
• Ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day in a confined area with fluctuating temperatures
• May be exposed to allergens such as nuts, seeds, soy, shellfish, and dairy
