Responsibilities

  • Assists and/or prepares customer orders: eggs, grill or fryer items, and kitchen prep.
  • Prepares food for distribution: plating, servings, and setup of serving lines.
  • Provides customer service to students, faculty and staff and handles concerns/ complaints.
  • Replaces stock daily and supports catering setup across district locations.
  • Delivers catering orders to rooms on schedule and relays messages.
  • Maintains inventory records and cleans dishes, tables, and service areas.
  • Collaborates with culinary instructors and student workers.

Job description

  • Assists and/or prepares customer orders: including but not limited to: eggs made to orders, items on the grill or fryer, and kitchen preparation.
  • Ability to follow recipes and retrieve recipe(s) from electronic data base.
  • Assists, follows directions, and performs food prep including but not limited to: cleaning, peeling, cutting vegetables, mixing ingredients, sandwich preparation and food display.
  • Prepares food for distribution including but not limited to plating, servings, setting up and maintaining serving line selections.
  • Provides customer service excellence while addressing students, faculty and staff concerns and complaints and performs problem resolution; maintains safe and sanitary working conditions.
  • Replaces stock regularly on a daily basis.
  • Assist in the setup and/or clean-up of catering requests including but not limited to maintaining carts, buffets, and tabling catering functions for all areas throughout the District as needed.
  • Delivers catering orders to respected rooms at designated times to various district locations.
  • Relays orders and messages as required.
  • Establishes, maintains, and enhances positive work relationships with staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Enters product deliveries into register inventory tracking system and assists in inventory counts
  • Cleans dishes, trays, pots, pans and other relevant tools and eating equipment and performs routine cleaning.
  • Cleans tables and food service areas.
  • Practices honesty by demonstrating a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles, values, truthfulness and accuracy in all actions.
  • Collaborates in the instruction of culinary students and student workers.
  • Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.

Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Required Education & Experience

High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalency required and (1) year of experience in related area

  • Knowledge of the use of a variety of commercial kitchen equipment including basic and safe knife skills.
  • Knowledge of personal hygiene and sanitation standards and the ability to maintain these standards.

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Physical ability sufficient to lift and move supplies up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to utilize excellent customer services skills in order to establish and maintain effective working relationships with MATC staff, faculty, students, representatives from outside agencies, business community and the general public.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, students and school personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, collaborate as a team member and some decisions consistent with established rules.
  • Ability to access and disseminate information using computers and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, ability to complete online mandatory in-services.
Physical demands

include the ability to lift up to 25 lbs., carry and push up to 20 lbs., and pull up to 50 lbs. Must be able to climb stairs and a ladder, maintain balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, hear, and speak. The position requires sitting 50% of the time, standing 25% of the time, and walking 25% of the time.

Hours

Individuals may work up to 19 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 10AM and 6PM. Shifts are subject to change based on departmental needs.

Salary

Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.
