Job description

The Catering Attendant is responsible for providing excellent customer service and ensuring guest satisfaction during all dining events, with a focus on catering. Under the supervision of the Team Leader and/or Director of Dining Services, the Catering Attendant ensures quality service at all times.

  1. Assist with table-top setup and breakdown of catering equipment and stations.
  2. Assist with food preparation and plating.
  3. Serve food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages, to guests.
  4. Monitor and replenish food and beverage stations.
  5. Ensure all work and service areas are clean and sanitized.
  6. Follow safe food handling practices and procedures.
  7. Attend to special requests and dietary restrictions.
  8. Work independently and collaboratively to ensure smooth event operations.
  9. Assist in training new service team members, under the direction of the Team Leader.
  10. In full-time roles, perform duties of bunner, cashier, hostess, and/or server as needed.
  11. Promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for residents, staff, and self.
  12. Understand fire safety procedures and assist with resident evacuation during emergencies.
  13. Maintain confidentiality of residents’ personal and medical information.
  14. Collaborate with staff from other departments as required.
  15. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Capable of standing and walking for 4-8 hour shifts.
  • Ability to carry and balance a 10-15 pound tray.
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent stooping and bending.
  • Good vision and hearing, or use of prosthetics to support these senses.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment such as fire extinguishers, telephones, and beverage machines.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Good communication skills and sound mental and physical health.
  • Ability to work well with others, demonstrating flexibility, patience, and sensitivity, especially towards older adults.
  • Personal integrity and independence.
