Catering and Events Manager - Embassy Suites by Hilton Portland Downtown (Project Management)

Role Overview:

As Catering and Events Manager, you are responsible for negotiating business through proposals and contracts to close deals. You will creatively design menus and events to maximize revenue and enhance the event experience. Maintaining relationships with corporate and social accounts, you will coordinate with sales, hotel departments, and customers to ensure high-level service throughout all phases of events. Your role involves seamless turnover from sales to service and back, upselling opportunities, and serving as the primary contact for event planners.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Organize, plan, and prioritize duties by developing clear plans and goals.
2. Communicate timely with clients and internal teams via various channels.
3. Build and maintain client relationships, setting and meeting expectations.
4. Demonstrate knowledge of hotel systems, products, and processes.
5. Resolve conflicts, negotiate, and handle complaints effectively.
6. Influence and sell to internal and external clients.
7. Make decisions by analyzing issues and determining optimal solutions.
8. Ensure high-quality service through effective communication, guidance, and coaching.
9. Participate in customer site inspections and support the sales process.
10. Perform other duties as needed based on business requirements.
11. Maintain regular attendance.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of hotel sales management experience.

Preferred capabilities include:

• Knowledge of Delphi.fdc property management system.
• Relevant degree in business development or related field; certifications such as CMP or CPCE are advantageous.
