Job summary

Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis is seeking a proactive Hotel Sales and Catering Assistant to drive group, catering, and business account revenue. You will solicit prospects, conduct site inspections, entertain clients, and coordinate with operations to ensure flawless events.

Responsibilities

• Uphold the hotel’s commitment to superior hospitality and client satisfaction.
• Effectively achieve assigned sales, catering revenue, and solicitation goals.
• Proactively make solicitation calls, conduct site inspections, and entertain clients for group, catering, and business accounts
• Meet with clients to plan function details; ensure all arrangements, guarantees, and deposits are confirmed per contract guidelines
• Act as primary liaison between clients and hotel departments to ensure flawless event execution
• Prepare, maintain, and update accurate client files, contracts, and correspondence
• Review event setups, Banquet Captain reports, and client feedback to ensure standards are met
• Provide administrative support to meeting planners, including business center assistance, billing accuracy, and group rooming list entry
• Develop a strong working knowledge of all hotel facilities, services, and operational procedures related to sales and catering
• Maintain visibility in the local market; stay informed on competitive catering facilities and market trends
• Attend and conduct meetings as necessary; generate reports for management review
• Support and promote teamwork, motivation, and departmental morale
• Maintain confidentiality of guest and hotel information
• Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and energy conservation practices
• Represent the hotel professionally at all times, both on and off duty
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing or Director of Catering & Conference Services

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required; previous Hotel Sales experience preferred
• Must have a valid driver’s license for the applicable state
• Must possess developed verbal and written communication skills to frequently negotiate, convince, sell, and influence other managerial personnel, hotel guests, and/or corporate clients
• Experience with professional selling skills desired: opening, probing, supporting, closing
• Must be proficient in general computer knowledge, especially Microsoft Office products
• Must be able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks; strong organizational and presentation skills
