Title : Category Specialist II - Construction

Salary : $90K - 109K/yr

Position Summary

The organization is seeking a Category Specialist II responsible for developing, implementing, and managing sourcing strategies for specific categories or groups of categories. This role aims to optimize costs, improve quality and delivery, enhance supply chain efficiencies, and maintain strong supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of category strategies by identifying and engaging internal stakeholders across engineering and operations to capture category requirements.
• Manage relationships with key suppliers, support supplier business reviews, and monitor supplier quality and delivery performance.
• Support the creation of pricing strategies for project proposals, as well as conduct monthly and annual financial reviews with relevant project data, metrics, forecasts, and strategic insights.
• Aid in material cost reduction initiatives through supplier contract negotiations, developing negotiation strategies, supplier profiling, defining switching costs, and building a total cost of ownership model.
• Monitor market drivers affecting categories, including raw material pricing and availability, supplier capacity, industry disruptions, and new product developments.
• Responsible for forecasting, reporting, mitigating, and managing recovery related to commodity inflation.
• Lead and coach team members by setting examples, providing effective feedback, and managing performance effectively.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of construction processes, equipment, materials, and purchasing procedures.
• Strong negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated strategic thinking, business acumen, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Strong organizational, planning, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to influence without authority.
