Our category-defining brands leverage meticulous craftsmanship, consumer insights, and cross-functional collaboration to pursue innovation and redefine what is humanly possible in the outdoors. Through our portfolio of iconic brands, we are committed to delivering products that inspire participation, improve performance, and connect consumers to the activities they love. The Category Merchandising Manager – Simms is responsible for driving the strategic direction, development, and performance of assigned Simms product categories. This role serves as the consumer, market, and category expert, translating consumer insights, marketplace trends, competitive intelligence, and business objectives into compelling product assortments that drive revenue growth, profitability, consumer engagement, and long-term brand equity. This position leads seasonal and annual merchandising strategies, including category planning, line architecture, assortment optimization, product lifecycle management, pricing, and margin performance. The Category Merchandising Manager works closely with Product Development, Design, Marketing, Sales, Operations, S&OP, and other cross-functional partners to ensure Simms delivers the right products, in the right assortment, through the right channels, at the right time. The role combines strategic thinking with hands‑on execution. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of consumer behavior, merchandising principles, product categories, and marketplace dynamics, along with the analytical and influencing skills necessary to translate insights into actionable business and product decisions. This position reports to the Sr. Director, Merchandising - Simms, and is based out of our Bozeman, MT office. As the Category Merchandising Manager – Simms, you will have an opportunity to: develop and execute category strategies and seasonal line plans that align with Simms brand strategy, consumer needs, revenue targets, gross margin objectives, and marketplace opportunities. Own category line architecture and assortment strategy, determining the appropriate breadth, depth, price points, product segmentation, and channel mix to meet consumer and business needs. Serve as the category subject matter expert, maintaining a deep understanding of Simms consumers, competitors, market dynamics, emerging trends, and the evolving fishing and outdoor performance marketplace. Analyze consumer insights, sales performance, market data, competitive intelligence, and channel trends to identify opportunities for category growth, innovation, rationalization, and improved profitability. Translate consumer and marketplace insights into clear product and merchandising priorities that inform the product development pipeline. Partner with Product Development and Design to establish product briefs, category priorities, product objectives, timelines, and success measures. Lead merchandising input throughout the Innovation‑to‑Commercialization (I2C) process, preparing for key stage gates, driving cross‑functional alignment, and ensuring product concepts support the overall category and line strategy. Drive assortment planning and product lifecycle management, including new product introductions, core product management, seasonal offerings, product transitions, and SKU rationalization. Partner with Sales, Marketing, DTC, eCommerce, and Operations to ensure assortments are optimized by channel and aligned with customer and consumer needs. Develop and maintain accurate, actionable line plans, product roadmaps, assortment strategies, and category documentation. Drive seasonal and annual sales and margin objectives through informed assortment decisions, pricing architecture, product positioning, channel strategy, and portfolio optimization. Monitor category and product performance against financial and business objectives; identify risks and opportunities and recommend actions to improve results. Partner with Finance and cross-functional leaders to understand category P&L performance, forecasts, inventory considerations, margin targets, and other key financial drivers. Identify opportunities to improve the consumer experience, product portfolio, merchandising processes, tools, and ways of working. Develop and deliver compelling category, product, and line presentations for leadership, sales teams, retailers, and other internal and external stakeholders. Gather consumer, retailer, sales, and field insights through research, customer interactions, trade events, and field engagement to inform category and product strategies. Collaborate closely with Marketing to ensure product positioning, storytelling, launch plans, and consumer communications reflect the category strategy and product value proposition. Build strong cross-functional partnerships across Product Development, Design, Marketing, Sales, DTC, eCommerce, Operations, S&OP, and Finance to drive effective execution and accountability. Support the development and protection of intellectual property strategies. Ensure compliance with applicable company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Demonstrate ownership, accountability, sound business judgment, and continuous improvement in support of Revelyst’s values and business objectives. At Revelyst, we wear many hats; additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. You have: 5+ years of experience in merchandising, category management, product management, product marketing, or a related consumer product function. Demonstrated experience managing product categories, product lines, assortments, or portfolios within a consumer products, retail, wholesale, or direct‑to‑consumer environment. Strong understanding of merchandising principles, category management, assortment planning, product lifecycle management, and product portfolio strategy. Proven ability to develop and execute category strategies and seasonal line plans from concept through commercialization. Strong understanding of consumer insights and the ability to translate consumer and marketplace trends into actionable product and assortment strategies. Demonstrated ability to analyze sales, margin, inventory, consumer, and competitive data to make informed business decisions. Strong financial acumen and understanding of the key drivers of revenue, gross margin, inventory, and category profitability. Experience managing product assortments across multiple channels and understanding how consumer needs and product strategies may vary by channel. Demonstrated ability to influence cross‑functional teams and drive alignment without direct authority. Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate category strategies, recommendations, and business results to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear priorities and actions. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple categories, projects, priorities, and timelines simultaneously. Ability to navigate ambiguity, make sound business decisions with incomplete information, and operate effectively in a fast‑paced, changing environment. Experience with product lifecycle management, product information management, merchandising, or related systems and tools; experience with PLM and PIM systems preferred. Adaptable, resilient, flexible, and comfortable balancing strategic ownership with hands‑on execution. Demonstrated passion for Simms products, consumers, and the outdoor performance community.
