Job Summary

The Walmart Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing category growth strategies that balance the needs of Oldcastle APG and Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club. Candidates should be intelligent and self-motivated with the ability to support various Brands & Categories for strategic growth.

Reporting to the National Sales Director, this position will be remote with local travel.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Develop an Account Plan for Wal-Mart & Sam’s Club including near- and long-term objectives, timelines, tracking/monitoring, and reporting.
  2. Create and articulate business opportunities based on evolving shopper behaviors and Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club strategies.
  3. Bring omni-channel shopper concepts to life; ensure that products are available at every touch point in the shopper journey.
  4. Proactively influence strategy and identify opportunities for growth with Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club and within Oldcastle APG/Lawn & Garden.
  5. Effectively lead and influence Customer Annual Line Review & Product Category reviews, recommend and manage appropriate data, close knowledge gaps, and align team to appropriate category priorities.
  6. Anticipate future Retailer & Consumer market needs and drive solutions.
  7. Train, educate, and develop a consumer-driven mindset as a competitive advantage for Oldcastle APG/Lawn & Garden.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Management, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or related field; MBA preferred.
  2. 5+ years of progressive sales, category management, trade marketing, analytics, consumer, or shopper insights experience.
  3. Proven experience leading customer engagements in space and assortment, pricing strategy, trade promotion strategy, and omnichannel solutions.
  4. Strong professional and interpersonal skills - ability to develop a vision and influence at all levels; understands customer operations and what’s required to win at retail.
  5. Possesses business & financial acumen with knowledge of retailer and manufacturing processes/structure.
  6. Works well in a dynamic, decentralized business model and is comfortable with regional variabilities.
  7. Embraces change, challenge, and problem-solving. Critical thinker and learner.
  8. Highly adaptive, versatile, and flexible.
