Job summary

CPS, Inc. seeks a Category Manager to lead strategic sourcing and supplier relationships for assigned raw materials.

The role is based in Montrose, VA or Houston, TX and will be in office 100% onsite; relocation is offered for the Virginia location. You will develop long-term sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, monitor market conditions, and collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, Process Technology, and other functions to ensure supply continuity and cost savings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
• 7+ years of procurement experience in chemicals.
• Strong skills in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management.
• Understanding of market economics, cost drivers, and value chains; chemical industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, contracts, supply terms, and commercial conditions.
• Monitor market conditions, cost drivers, availability, and pricing trends to anticipate market changes and support procurement decisions.
• Identify and qualify new suppliers, sourcing opportunities, and technologies.
• Develop and execute long-term sourcing strategies supporting business and global supply requirements.
• Develop volume and pricing forecasts and support annual planning processes.
• Partner with R&D, Manufacturing, Process Technology, and other functions to resolve supplier quality and supply issues.
• Identify cost savings and strategic purchasing opportunities across regional and global teams.
• Develop strategies to ensure business continuity and supply security.
• Provide market intelligence regarding competitive conditions, pricing, quality, service, and distribution.

My client, a leading global chemical manufacturer is seeking a Category Manager to manage strategic sourcing and supplier relationships for assigned raw materials. This position can be based in Montrose, VA or Houston, TX and will be in office 5 days. Remote and hybrid are not being offered.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, contracts, supply terms, and commercial conditions.

• Identify and qualify new suppliers, sourcing opportunities, and technologies.

• Strong communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams.

Total Comp: $120-150k
