Job Description/Responsibilities

Note: This is a fully remote role, based in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, or Texas. Responsibilities may vary by state due to regulatory standards.

This Category Manager - Mass/Drug role will provide insights, analytics, and strategies to drive growth for Sazerac brands and retail partners. The ideal candidate is an experienced CPG professional with strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and strategic thinking. They will serve as a strategic partner to sales teams and retail buyers, translating complex data into actionable insights to improve business outcomes. The role involves cross-functional collaboration, leading initiatives, and strengthening retailer relationships through data-driven support.

  • Deliver consumer, category, and market insights to inform strategic decisions for partners like Meijer, Target, and drug channels.
  • Analyze syndicated (Nielsen, IRI), panel (Numerator), and retailer data to identify growth opportunities and performance drivers.
  • Work with sales teams to develop and present recommendations aligning with company and retailer strategies.
  • Utilize tools such as Power BI, planogram software, and Excel for data storytelling and visualization.
  • Generate reports and dashboards to monitor performance and identify opportunities or risks.
  • Provide custom analyses and support special projects for leadership and customers.
  • Conduct in-market visits to assess execution, shelf conditions, and identify volume/profit opportunities.
  • Document scalable processes and best practices to improve team efficiency and onboarding.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, shopper behavior, and competitive activity to enhance insights and planning.
Qualifications/Requirements

MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or related field.
  • 7+ years in Category Management, Shopper Insights, Trade Marketing, or Customer Strategy within CPG or beverage/alcohol sectors.
  • Experience supporting major national retailers, especially Target, Meijer, and drug channels.
  • Proven ability to analyze retail and shopper data to deliver actionable recommendations.
  • Expertise in syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI), panel data (Numerator), and retailer-specific platforms.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strategic mindset with understanding of category growth levers.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work remotely.

PREFERRED:

  • Expertise in data visualization and preparation tools (e.g., Tableau, Access, SQL, VBA, Alteryx).
  • Experience with alcoholic beverages or DSD categories.
