The Job:
As a Sr. Category Manager, you’ll be part of our DEWALT team working as a remote employee. The Category manager is responsible for planning, executing, and analyzing all go-to-market activities within the DEWALT category team. This role will manage the categories through the lifecycle of a product underpinned by a continuous focus on innovation. This role will develop and implement brand and category strategies across global markets underpinned by lifecycle management, conduct regular market analysis and manage the marketing budget allocation. This role needs to understand the company's overall business strategy and align their category strategy with the company's goals. They will also ensure correct brand and channel positioning with a clear and consistent brand message and drive commercial resource allocations. Overall, this Category Manager drives continuous improvement in processes and function. In this role, you will be the category expert within brand & category to deliver strategies that align to the category Strategy Ensuring Implementation Across the Full Product Lifecycle. You’ll get to:
- Develop and Execute Category Strategy: Drive the strategic direction for the Hand Tool and Storage categories across all portfolios, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Lead New Product Development (NPD): Guide the NPD process to align with brand direction, providing input during the early ideation phase and ensuring alignment with category strategy.
- Prioritize Product Development: Provide strategic feedback on the prioritization of product development projects to maximize category growth and profitability.
- Market Analysis and Insights: Gather and synthesize data from cross-functional teams to assess competitive positioning, identify market opportunities, and understand industry dynamics.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage large, SKU-intensive data sets to inform category strategy, optimize product assortment, and drive actionable insights for growth initiatives.
- Go-to-Market Planning: Transform market intelligence into actionable go-to-market plans, including impactful launch strategies for new product introductions.
- Category Education and Storytelling: Deliver compelling category education and storytelling to internal and external stakeholders to drive engagement and alignment.
- Product Life Cycle Management: Oversee the full product life cycle, including SKU rationalization, low/negative margin analysis, and end-of-life planning to maintain a healthy portfolio.
- Financial Analysis: Provide detailed financial analysis by category to support channel marketing teams during annual quoting and line review processes.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and lead organizational change initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Budget Management: Recommend and allocate marketing budgets by category in collaboration with the brand marketing team to maximize ROI.
- Category P&L Ownership: Own the category’s P&L, ensuring accurate business performance reporting through Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes.
- Operational Alignment: Lead operational alignment across supply chain, manufacturing, and marketing teams to ensure timely product availability and readiness.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate category strategy effectively with cross-functional teams (sales, brand, product, channel) and act as the primary point of contact for product launches.
- Global Coordination: Collaborate with regional teams (e.g., EMEA, ANZ) on product development initiatives, marketing strategies, and life cycle management opportunities to ensure global alignment.
The Person:

- Bachelor's Degree - Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience
- Market & Competitor Analysis experience
- Financial Reporting & Tracking
- Being data-driven
- Travel in to Towson, MD facility as needed (10%)
