Join to apply for the Category Manager - Capital Expenditures role at JCI.

We're seeking a strategic and results-oriented Category Manager (“CM”) to join our Residential and Light Commercial HVAC Americas Procurement team, supporting Capital Equipment and Maintenance and Repair of Capital Equipment. As a high-visibility leader, you'll oversee at least $100 million in annual spend. Your responsibilities include developing and implementing category strategies, driving cost reduction, optimizing working capital, mitigating risk, and ensuring supplier performance and quality. You will collaborate with internal teams such as Product Management, Engineering, and Operations to support business growth and profitability.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Lead category strategy development, execution, and communication.
  2. Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage supplier relationships.
  3. Conduct market analysis for sourcing strategies.
  4. Manage supplier contracts for optimal terms.
  5. Lead cross-functional teams to ensure supply continuity and risk mitigation.
  6. Analyze data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  7. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
  8. Meet or exceed procurement KPIs such as cost savings and supplier rationalization.
  9. Lead regular category reviews and communicate effectively within teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in manufacturing equipment sourcing in a global environment.
  • Proven success in strategic sourcing and market analysis.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Proficient in project management and sourcing tools.
  • Data-driven with strong cost optimization skills.
  • Experience in supplier relationship management and indirect people management.
  • Ability to interface with senior leadership globally.
  • Strong MS Office skills, including advanced Excel; experience with SAP, Power BI, or similar ERP systems.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.

Location: Wichita, KS and Norman, OK. Spanish language skills are a plus.
