Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a Catastrophe Risk Analyst to transform model results and exposure data into actionable insights for portfolio strategy and risk appetite. The role is hybrid with is based near Boston, MA, and requires up to 10% travel.

The candidate will work with cross-functional teams to support analytics, event response, and continuous improvement. Candidates should have 1+ year of relevant experience, programming experience (Python or R), and familiarity with catastrophe

Qualifications

  • Experience with catastrophe risk and insurance applications.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python or R) relevant to data analysis.
  • Experience handling large structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.

Responsibilities

  • Perform catastrophe modeling analyses using catastrophe modeling software for input, setup, execution, result extraction and loss analytics.
  • Develop tools, reports, and data to understand impacts of natural disasters on the enterprise.
  • Monitor catastrophe peril events in the United States daily and assess potential impacts on the business.
  • Evaluate catastrophe management software and models, exploring industry best practices.
  • Manipulate and investigate complex datasets to define data requirements and model specs.
  • Introduce new ideas and approaches to drive business improvements.
