Job summary

MS Reinsurance is seeking a temporary catastrophe modelling analyst in the United States to support underwriting pricing requests and provide tailored catastrophe modelling analysis. The role reports into the Miami Modelling Lead and aims to bring clarity and transparency to modelled figures for clients and underwriters.

Responsibilities include providing analytical support during client quotes, acting as a main contact for pricing queries, and delivering timely, well-checked pricing insights

Qualifications

• Completed degree in Mathematics, Natural Science, Physics, Engineering or in a similar discipline.
• Knowledge in databases, GIS, Microsoft Power Platform, coding in SQL/Python is an asset.

• Being a key point of contact for the underwriters with queries relating to the pricing of accounts.
• Assisting with client and broker relationships with the ability to deal with enquiries in an efficient professional manner.
• Turning around all pricing requests to meet deadlines in a professional and accurate manner by ensuring appropriate checks are carried out.
• Performing ad hoc analytics.

About the role

This is a temporary position with an expected end date of February 2027.

Reporting into the Miami Modelling Lead, the primary purpose of the role is to provide tailored catastrophe modelling, to support and enhance our underwriting capabilities on pricing requests, bringing clarity, transparency and understanding to the users and clients of catastrophe modelling.

Your responsibilities

• Providing analytical support to underwriters throughout client quoting process and providing narrative support for all catastrophe modelled figures whilst ensuring all appropriate checks are carried out.

Your profile

• Completed degree in Mathematics, Natural Science, Physics, Engineering or in a similar discipline.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to various audiences.
• Good communicator who is able to interact with underwriters.
• Teamwork and relationship building skills.
• Good self-management and time management discipline.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think out of the box.
• Work experience in a related field, preferably in insurance, would be an asset.
• Knowledge in the following is an asset: Databases, GIS, Microsoft Power Platform, coding in SQL/Python.
• Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish would be an asset.
