Great American Insurance Group in Cincinnati, OH is offering a Catastrophe Modeling & Data Analytics Intern (Spring 2027). This hybrid, part-time internship places you with experienced modelers to support catastrophe risk analytics and data workflows.

We seek students pursuing degrees in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or related fields who are detail-oriented, curious, and eager to learn SQL, Tableau, Power BI and Python in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Risk Management, or related field.
• Proficient with Excel and a willingness to learn SQL, Tableau, Power BI and Python.
• Detail-oriented, curious, and effective communicator to join a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Modeling & Geospatial Analysis: learn modeling software to evaluate catastrophe risk and identify high-risk regions.
• SQL & Data Engineering: update databases, tables, queries, and processes; review and maintain Python code.
• Visualization & Reporting: create Tableau/Power BI dashboards and map events for insights.
• Process Optimization: help streamline repeatable modeling processes and automate data prep tasks.
