NLR in Golden, CO, seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to advance catalytic oleochemistry from bench to pilot scale. You will integrate chemistry, process engineering, and computational modeling to de-risk scale-up for plant oils into high-value chemicals and lubricants.

The role emphasizes experimental development, data generation for reactor design, and collaboration with industry partners to translate discoveries into scalable processes.

Qualificações

• Must have a PhD within the last three years in a relevant science/engineering field.
• Solid background in biorefinery and biomass conversion.
• Strong scientific writing and communications skills demonstrated by publications.
• Ability to learn quickly, multi-task, and work on diverse projects.

Responsabilidades

• Develop pretreatment strategies for lipids to produce feedstocks with CMAs.
• Develop and optimize catalytic processes for lipid-derived products.
• Design and evaluate catalytic reaction pathways from bench to pilot including catalyst screening.
• Develop product formulations linking composition to performance in lubricants and specialty chemicals.
• Generate kinetic, mass-balance, and process data for reactor design and techno-economic analysis.
• Establish CMAs and CPPs and assess feedstock variability on product quality and scale-up.
