Colonial Group is seeking a Catalyst Technician to support refinery, petrochemical and industrial processing units in Houston. Qualifications

  • Experience in catalyst handling, industrial maintenance, refinery, petrochemical, or construction environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required safety certifications.
  • Flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
  • Valid driver''s license and acceptable driving record.
  • OSHA safety training.

Responsibilities

  • Install, unload, load, screen, and remove catalyst materials from reactors, vessels, and processing equipment.
  • Operate vacuum systems, pneumatic conveyors, forklifts, and loading equipment.
  • Perform confined space entry work under established safety procedures.
  • Follow LOTO, fall protection, respiratory protection, and other safety protocols.
  • Travel to customer locations and project sites as required.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and safety records.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
  • Work in turnaround, outage, shutdown, and maintenance environments.
  • Participate in safety meetings and job hazard analyses.

Job description

Position Summary

The Catalyst Technician is responsible for the installation, removal, handling, screening, loading, unloading, and maintenance of catalyst materials used in refinery, petrochemical, and industrial processing units. This position performs work in confined spaces, elevated locations, and industrial environments while adhering to strict safety procedures and environmental regulations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Install, unload, load, screen, and remove catalyst materials from reactors, vessels, and processing equipment.
  • Perform catalyst handling activities in accordance with project specifications and safety requirements.
  • Operate industrial equipment, including vacuum systems, pneumatic conveyors, forklifts, and loading equipment.
  • Assist with reactor inspections, vessel preparation, and equipment setup.
  • Perform confined space entry work under established safety procedures.
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), fall protection, respiratory protection, and other safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, work logs, and safety records.
  • Conduct pre-job inspections and participate in safety meetings and job hazard analyses.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
  • Work effectively as part of a team in turnaround, outage, shutdown, and maintenance environments.
  • Travel to customer locations and project sites as required.
  • Perform general labor duties associated with catalyst handling operations.
Qualifications
  • Ability to work safely in industrial environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required safety certifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Previous experience in catalyst handling, industrial maintenance, refinery, petrochemical, or construction environments.

  • Forklift and aerial lift certification.
  • Experience with confined space entry and respiratory protection programs.
  • NCCER or other industrial certifications.
  • Understanding of industrial safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced turnaround and shutdown environments.
