Job summary

The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, NY seeks a Cataloging & Metadata Librarian to perform original and complex cataloging and metadata description across formats, with emphasis on our print collections. Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years post-credentialed professional experience in cataloging and metadata.
• Demonstrated experience with original and complex copy cataloging and applicable cataloging and metadata standards.
• Experience with authority control, controlled vocabularies, and metadata tools such as OCLC Connexion, MarcEdit, and OpenRefine.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight on cataloging practices and advise on best practices for all types of cataloging.
• Perform original and complex copy cataloging for monographs, serials, and Special Collections and College Archives materials.
• Provide oversight and documentation of archival cataloging and processing projects to ensure effective metadata creation and system integration.
• Maintain currency with emerging cataloging and metadata standards.
• Develop and implement reporting strategies within the library services platform and other systems.
