Job summary

The Catalina Island Conservancy is seeking an Education Program Coordinator (K-12) to coordinate and deliver youth-focused environmental education on Catalina Island. You will work with Education Program staff to schedule, prepare, and implement lessons, field trips, and community events.

You will support curriculum development, assessments, data management, and outreach, ensuring safety, age-appropriateness, and alignment with learning objectives.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated initiative and strong follow-through.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism with staff, volunteers, students, and community partners.
  • Comfortable working both in office and outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support coordination and delivery of school-based environmental education programs for preschool–12th grade.
  • Assist with classroom lessons, field trips, outdoor education, and youth events.
  • Deliver engaging, age-appropriate education and interpretation in various settings.
  • Lead lessons, activities, hikes, and other interpretive experiences using curriculum materials.
  • Connect program content to Catalina Island’s ecology and cultural resources.
  • Coordinate program schedules, transportation, materials, and equipment.
  • Prepare educational materials and maintain program records and data.
  • Assist with program outreach and community partnerships.
