Job summary

CareWell Health Medical Center seeks a Cat Scan Technologist to perform essential CT scanning procedures. Under the guidance of the imaging director, the technologist will independently execute high-quality examinations while ensuring patient safety. Applicants must be graduates of recognized radiologic programs and have related certifications. Full-time status includes a flexible schedule with expected weekend and holiday availability.

Qualifications

  • Certification with NJ Department of Environmental Protection in Diagnostic Radiography required.
  • ARRT Certification is mandatory.
  • At least one year of experience as a radiologic technologist.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the director of diagnostic imaging, and according to established policies and procedures, performs all required diagnostic computerized tomography (CT) scanning procedures with knowledge of all pertinent technical and academic areas to produce consistent, high-quality examinations. The computerized tomography technologist functions independently within the broad scope of established department policies and goals; generally, refers specific problems to supervisors only when clarifications of operating policies and procedures may be required.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the director of diagnostic imaging, and according to established policies and procedures, performs all required diagnostic computerized tomography (CT) scanning procedures with knowledge of all pertinent technical and academic areas to produce consistent, high-quality examinations. The computerized tomography technologist functions independently within the broad scope of established department policies and goals; generally, refers specific problems to supervisors only when clarifications of operating policies and procedures may be required.

Essential Functions

  • Provides direct patient care, evaluates functional needs and outcomes, and consults with other specialists as needed.
  • Demonstrates ingenuity and initiative with various technical procedures and equipment operation on an individual patient basis to provide the highest-quality examination with the diagnostic equipment available.
  • Demonstrates skill and knowledge to identify disease abnormalities and physiological processes while performing the CT scans, with initiative to obtain additional scans, views, or extremely technical factors as required to provide maximum information for the radiologist to make an accurate diagnosis. Must be competent in the art of CT scanning.
  • Performs all required diagnostic CT scanning procedures, consistently demonstrating good judgment in evaluating the diagnostic studies for quality and diagnoses.
  • Performs any necessary clerical work related to the obtaining of previous reports, X-ray films, etc. Registers patients and ensures that the proper information is recorded in the daily logbooks.
  • Maintains the CT scanning equipment in good operating order. Cleans and maintains the CT room.

Initiates the computer into its proper program and starts the X-ray equipment.

  • Assembles the X-ray film, CT scans, and other necessary diagnostic information in its proper order for the physician’s interpretation. Monitors the condition of any patient within the department and assists the radiologist or other physicians in performing needed medical attention.
  • Recognizes and initiates treatment of allergic reactions, as well as notifying the responsible physician.
  • Checks and maintains emergency equipment within the scanning suite.
  • Reports any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to the responsible supervisor.
  • Exposes and develops hard-copy film from CT images for distribution to the patient's physicians and other hospitals.
  • Maintains quality control of CT equipment to ensure that both the computer and radiographic equipment are operating properly.
  • Takes emergency calls after normal operating hours on a rotating basis with other CT technologists

Minimum Education/Certifications

Graduate of 2-year AMA approved Certificate program or A.A.S. Degree in Radiologic Technology

Certification and in possession of a current NJ Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) license in Diagnostic Radiography and in addition, The American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT Certification)

BLS, Certification: Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist Certificate (required within one year of employment)

Minimum Work Experience

At least one year of experience as a radiologic technologist

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Must be willing to work holidays, weekends and provide additional coverage as needed
