RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Cat Scan Technician for the Rahway facility. You will perform CT imaging, assist Radiologists, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout examinations. The role requires state licensure, ARRT registration, and CT certification, with a focus on precise imaging and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
• CT Certification and NJ licensure required.
• Previous CT experience preferred and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes patient condition and uses proper technique for CT imaging.
• Assists Radiologist in radiographic procedures and image labeling.
• Ensures patient comfort and safety during examinations.
• Keeps the room stocked and clean before and after procedures.
• Documents cases in the Radiology Information System.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

A typical day for a Cat Scan Technician may include:

• Analyzes patient physical condition, age and suspected pathology for proper technique
• Assists Radiologist in performing certain radiographic procedures
• Correctly marks images with time and body position
• Ensures patient comfort, physical and mental well being during the examination
• Ensures that room is properly stocked with all needed supplies prior to the beginning of the procedure
• Explains procedures, keeps patient informed of progress and assists patients in transferring on to/off examination table for procedures
• Observes equipment for proper functioning and reports malfunctions to supervisor
• Properly prepares room before patient enters and cleans it after patient exits
• Properly uses the Radiology Information System to arrive, change if necessary and complete cases
• Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patients age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care
