Job Overview

Fairview is hiring a Respiratory Therapist to join our Respiratory Therapy team at our St. Johns Hospital location in Maplewood, MN.

The Respiratory Therapistis responsible forprovidingdiagnostic and therapeutic servicesas prescribed bya physician. Follows defined treatment protocol according to department policies. Collects, assesses,interprets,and intervenes asappropriate inthe care of neonatal, pediatric,adult,and geriatric patients. Ensures patient welfare and safety standards during treatments.

Schedule:This position will be working casual. Casuals are required to work a minimum of 6 shifts each quarter/ 3 months. One shift must be a weekend. One holiday per year is required,

As aRespiratory Therapist, you willbe responsible for:

  • Assessingpatient needs andidentifiesexpected outcomes.
  • ImplementingRespiratory interventions based on plan of care.
  • Evaluatingcare and the patient’s response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Deliveringcare as delegated by physician/authorized practitioner to assigned patient population, or individual patient.

Operatingandmaintainingall Respiratory Care equipment

Required Qualifications

  • Education
    • Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field
  • License/Certification/Registration
    • Respiratory Therapist License issued by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
      • Exceptions include:
        • New Graduates must complete their Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 6 months of hire.
        • Those with Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) must have 3 or more years of respiratory therapist experience in a clinical setting.
        • Respiratory Therapists working at M Health Fairview Facilities - supplemented by defined contract staffing agency – temporary.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Additional Requirements (must be obtained and maintained)
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field
  • Experience
    • At least 1 year of Respiratory Therapy experience in a clinical setting
