Job description

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB SUMMARY: Established clinical research core echocardiography lab is requiring a highly capable research coordinator. Organizational skills are a must. Prior independent sonographer experience is a plus. Research project involves a large national population-based study in healthy participants. Duties will NOT include image data collection. Duties will include image analysis and being able to carry out standard operating procedures related to core lab activities including data tracking, data quality control, interfacing with other sonographers at national study sites regarding image quality, assistance in maintaining the study manual, and working closely with the rest of the research team to ensure the timely and efficient organizational management of the study. Maintains cooperative working relationship with other departments and members of the medical system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs and/or assists in high quality interpretation of cardiac sonography procedures.
  • Obtains appropriate data management and documentation for appropriate maintenance of an echocardiography core lab.
  • Communicates in an effective manner to provide efficient and quality services with high customer satisfaction.
  • Participates in educational activities to enhance research patient care and quality.
  • Performs appropriate equipment management including operations and maintenance.
  • Utilizes appropriate competencies, guidelines and environment for safe research patient care.
  • Maintains necessary clerical and statistical data relative to ultrasound examinations performed.
  • Identifies clinical alerts on existing echocardiographic studies and communicates effectively with other staff and physicians.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Assists in hiring staff required for the project and is responsible for training and supervising them.
  • Supervises Research Assistants, fellows and interns.
  • Develops research abstracts, presentations and manuscripts.
  • Encourages overall research productivity including: formulating analysis timelines, identifying potential manuscripts, forming writing teams and target dates, identifying journals for manuscript submission, and assisting authors in research tools and bibliographic software.
  • Assists preparation of IRB materials and proposals.
  • Provides expertise in their specialized area (i.e. data analysis, subject recruitment) to other projects as well as colleagues from other departments and outside organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in health, public health, social work, psychology or related health field plus 3-5 years experience in research required.
  • Completion of an Allied Health Training Program in Diagnostic Ultrasound resulting in an Associate’s degree, completion of a correlative Allied Health Program with successful completion of a postgraduate course in Cardiac Ultrasound, or Bachelor's degree in a related field. One year clinical ultrasound experience preferred.

LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:

  • Completion of the Registry of Cardiac Diagnostic Sonographer with Adult Echocardiography specialty required or the Registry of Cardiac Diagnostic Sonography within 12 months of hire.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred with excellent communication skills.
  • Experience performing and interpreting echocardiograms in clinical or research setting preferred.
  • Ability to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses, and other ancillary professional staff when discussing neuroultrasound technology.
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with public, patients, physicians, and other medical center staff.
  • Personable, excellent reporting skills, team player, organized, analyzing information, attention to detail, dealing with complexity, deadline oriented, time management and process improvement.
Minimum Salary Range

USD $36.92/Hr.

Maximum Salary Range

USD $41.02/Hr.
