Job summary

Fairview Health Services’ M Health Fairview St John’s Hospital in Maplewood is seeking a casual physical therapist to support acute care patient needs. The role covers diverse populations including ortho, neuro, general medical and surgical patients, with emphasis on safe, evidence-based care within scope of practice.

You will collaborate with patients and families, perform evaluations, develop plans of care, and coordinate with the interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Physical Therapist in Minnesota or temporary MN license.
  • Basic Life Support certification (AHA or Red Cross).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and reevaluate patients to determine diagnosis and prognosis.
  • Develop individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients and families.
  • Implement and adjust treatment plans based on patient response and reassessment.
  • Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team and communicate effectively.
  • Establish appropriate discharge plans and patient education.

Job Overview

We are seeking a casual physical therapist to support acute care patient needs at M Health Fairview St John’s Hospital in Maplewood!

The physical therapist will work with a variety of patient populations; including, but not limited to, ortho, neuro, general medical, general surgical, cardiac, oncology and medically complex. In collaboration with patients and families, the physical therapist is responsible for providing safe and effective delivery of patient care within scope of practice. This includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis, planning, intervention and establishing outcomes.

  • FTE: .01, casual position.
  • Schedule: One weekend (Saturday & Sunday) shifts every four weeks and one holiday per year.
  • Opportunities to pick up additional weekday and weekend shifts, as available!

Fairview Rehabilitation offers a broad range of services that serve patients across 10 acute‑care hospitals, 3 post‑acute settings and 70 outpatient adult and pediatric therapy clinics. Consisting of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, our therapists collaborate with colleagues in all medical settings and offer dozens of specialty programs.

Responsibilities
  • The physical therapist partners with the patient and family while performing the Evaluation/Re‑evaluation
  • Gathers pertinent data
  • Performs examination
  • Determines treatment diagnosis
  • Develops an individualized plan of care through collaboration with the patient and family
  • Analyzes data to identify needs and potential risks
  • Determines prognosis for recovery
  • Establishes individualized goals with patient and/or caregiver
  • Individualizes plan of care considering developmental level and cultural differences
  • Implements and modifies plan of care based on reassessment and patient response
  • Coordinates care and communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team for all aspects of patient care
  • Establishes appropriate discharge plan
  • Partners with patients and families to provide skilled intervention
  • Implements plan of care
  • Alters treatment/plan of care to reflect change in patient status and response to treatment
  • Assesses patient and/or caregiver learning needs and provides appropriate education
Required Qualifications
  • Physical Therapist in the state of Minnesota or temporary license in the state of Minnesota
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate of Physical Therapy
  • 1 year experience
