Job Opportunity: Medical Assistant

Are you a Medical Assistant interested in a career with growth opportunities? UPMC is seeking a Casual Medical Assistant to join the Womancare Associates - South team. This team provides women's health care in the region south of Pittsburgh.

Position Details:

  • Casual position, utilized on an as-needed basis across multiple divisions and offices.
  • Willingness to work at multiple locations is required.
  • Scheduled weekdays during daylight hours; no evenings, weekends, or holidays.
  • Responsibilities include both front and back office duties.
  • Previous Medical Assistant experience is preferred.
  • Applicants will be placed on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education.
Responsibilities:
  1. Manage patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  2. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information; complete forms and schedule appointments.
  3. Prepare exam rooms, set up instruments, and maintain infection control standards.
  4. Assist with patient flow, including escorting patients and collecting vitals and history.
  5. Answer calls, provide patient education, and perform clinical procedures such as phlebotomy and EKGs.
  6. Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and maintain confidentiality.
  7. Administer injectable medications and vaccines under physician supervision.
