Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees and up to one calendar year for part-time employees.

Description of Duties:

  • Under general supervision teach a range of pharmacy technician course with a strong emphasis on the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam in order that students who complete the courses are able to achieve certification and perform work.
  • Develops curriculum and implements instruction and ongoing evaluation of student performance throughout the program.
  • Maintains a cooperative working relationship with staff at externship sites to provide a safe learning environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and an Associate’s degree from an accredited institution OR Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science OR Doctor of Pharmacy (PHARM) degree.
  • Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Technology, Health Administration, Nursing or related field.
  • Two years of direct work experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacist.
  • Two years of teaching or workforces training experience.
