Come join our flexible workforce team - we are seeking an outpatient occupational therapist to provide hand therapy services with Fairview Rehab! The FWF team provides staffing coverage across multiple outpatient orthopedic therapy clinics in the greater Twin Cities metro area. Preferred candidate will be a certified hand therapist (CHT). Where CHT is not completed, Fairview offers mentoring and development opportunities for professional growth.

  • Casual position, authorized to work up to 40 hours per week, as needed.
  • Be a part of our rehab teams in Blaine, Maple Grove, Minneapolis, Edina, Burnsville and Eagan!

Fairview Rehabilitation offers a broad range of services that serve patients across 10 acute-care hospitals, 3 post-acute settings and 70 outpatient adult and pediatric therapy clinics. Consisting of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, our therapists collaborate with colleagues in all medical settings and offer dozens of specialty programs.

As an academic health system with residency and fellowship programs and a rehab-focused clinical quality team, we have a collaborative culture that is centered on learning with an emphasis on evidence based, patient-centered care. Rehab’s continuing education program offers 40+ continuing education courses per year at no cost to employees and further supports numerous external CE courses each year.

As a member of the Fairview rehab team, you would have opportunities for formal mentorship, clinical specialization and further recognition and compensation through our clinical specialist program. As an industry leader in rehabilitative care with nationally recognized programs, our therapists play a critical role in helping patients reach their goals and live more fulfilling lives.

The hand therapist partners with patients and their families while performing evaluation and re-evaluation.

Evaluates and reassesses patient condition

Gathers pertinent data

Performs appropriate examination

Determines occupational therapy diagnosis

Determines plan of care

Analyzes data to identify needs and potential risks

Determines prognosis for recovery

Establishes goals with patient or caregiver

Implements and modifies plan of care based on reassessment and patient response

Coordinates care and communicates optimally with interdisciplinary team to achieve desire outcomes

Establishes appropriate discharge plan

Provides appropriate and effective interventions

Educates patient and family on appropriate care

Complies with standards of productivity and time management

Provides accurate documentation of interventions provided and patient response

Supervises and directs appropriate members of rehab team

Delegate tasks appropriately to assistants/clerks/aides/transporters/extenders

Participates in department/facility process/quality improvement initiatives

Responsible for personal and professional development to ensure current knowledge required for position

Actively mentors or otherwise assists in the professional development of Hand Therapists

Mentors Fairview Hand Therapists

Provides periodic continuing education sessions to staff

Periodically supervises Level II Fieldwork students

Required

Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) Credential from the Hand Therapy Certification Commission

MN License including certification to practice of physical modalities NBCOT

Active Minnesota Basic Life Support Certification

Preferred

Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy

1+ year of Hand Therapy experience
