Job summary

UPMC Chautauqua seeks a Casual Sonographer to join the Imaging Team. This per-diem role offers flexible scheduling, including 1st–2nd shift coverage with on-call weekend/holiday coverage.

The candidate will perform ultrasound imaging with independent judgment within scope and collaborate with physicians and staff to ensure high-quality patient care. Qualifications

• Formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the CAAHEP.
• RDMS registration or registry eligible preferred.
• Must have completed Physics portion of registry; RDMS within 12 months of hire.
• CPR or BLS preferred; CPR required per AHA standards within 30 days of hire.
• New York Mandated Reporter required within 90 days of hire/transfer.
• NYSEL NY Staff Exclusion List
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR credentials as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Operate ultrasound equipment and perform imaging procedures with professional judgment.
• Assist physicians with invasive procedures and follow universal protocol standards.
• Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures and alleviate concerns.
• Identify patients using two identifiers and review orders and history for protocol adherence.
• Document patient history and imaging data in the electronic record.
• Produce high-quality images and ensure proper coding and RIS/ISITE posting for archiving.
