Job summary

UPMC Wellsboro is seeking a Professional Staff Nurse for the Emergency Department. This casual position offers shifts with weekend coverage and holidays, requiring an RN license and ACLS/PALS readiness. You will educate patients and families and collaborate across care teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Minimum 1 year experience preferred; BSN is desirable. CPR/CPR-related certifications must be current, with ongoing professional development and commitment to community health.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; BSN preferred.
• Current RN licensure in state or compact agreement; CPR within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
• Ability to address the needs of patients across the life span.

Responsibilities

• Sets standards for level and quality of care as part of the care delivery team.
• Provides patient care activities with independent judgment and collaboration.
• Teaches patients, families, students, and new staff; may serve as a preceptor.
• Participates in governance and quality improvement to enhance care.
• Maintains professional relationships with physicians, staff, and families.
• Communicates effectively; documents patient information comprehensively.
• Demonstrates safe work hours and supports a healing environment.
