Job summary

UPMC Wellsboro is seeking a casual Professional Staff Nurse to join the Emergency Department team. The role involves providing expert nursing care per the nursing process, teaching patients and families, and collaborating with physicians and care teams in a high-volume ED.

Schedule includes evenings and nights with 32 hours per month and holiday rotations as described. The Professional Staff Nurse will lead with relationship-based care, ensure patient safety, and participate in quality

Qualifications

• Must hold RN licensure with active license.
• Experience in patient education and teaching patients and families.
• Ability to collaborate with physicians and care team.
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient and family teaching during care episodes and transitions.
• Participates in professional development and unit governance; partners with care team.
• Builds relationships with colleagues and patients; supports safety and work-life balance.
• Applies nursing process within Relationship Based Care to plan care with patient partnership.
• Communicates condition to care providers and negotiates care changes.
