Job summary

North Star BlueScope Steel, LLC seeks a CASTER Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance department, ensuring maximum equipment availability, reliability, and lifecycle performance. You will plan, coordinate, budget, and drive continuous improvement in collaboration with operations, engineering, and reliability teams.

The role focuses on reducing unplanned downtime, enforcing safety standards, and delivering cost-effective maintenance across a heavy industrial caster operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent trade certification).
• Minimum 7 years in steel industry maintenance engineering or supervisory leadership.
• Strong safety leadership and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency with CMMS (Maximo) and data-driven maintenance.
• Experience planning capital projects, repairs, and outages.

Responsibilities

• Lead CASTER maintenance to maximize reliability and lifecycle performance while controlling costs.
• Enforce safety culture and regulatory compliance through leadership and training.
• Drive uptime improvements and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Develop and improve maintenance practices and resource utilization.
• Manage preventative maintenance program and critical spare parts inventory.
• Coordinate outages, budgets, and capital project work annually.
• Leverage CMMS data to drive performance improvements.
• Coach and develop maintenance staff and succession plans.
• Interview and select maintenance and supervisory personnel as needed.
