Shriners Children’s in Lexington, KY seeks an Orthopedic Technician to support physicians in casting, traction, and Ilizarov devices. You will inform patients and families about care, monitor supplies, and ensure safe, timely treatment as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You will perform duties under supervision, maintain competencies, and contribute to high-quality pediatric patient care in a reputable, Forbes-recognized organization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years Orthopedic Technician experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Performs casting, traction and Ilizarov services under supervision of an Attending Orthopedic Surgeon.
• Performs direct and indirect patient care activities within the scope of Orthopedic Technician practice.
• Maintains clear, accurate communication with patients, families and interprofessional team.

Job Description

Job Summary

Provides assistance to physicians in the application, maintenance and removal of casts, traction, Ilizarov device and other splint or motion device as prescribed. Informs patients / families, staff and students about the use and care of casts, traction and Ilizarov devices; monitors and orders casting and traction supplies and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs direct and indirect patient care activities within the scope of practice of an Orthopedic Technician
• Performs casting, traction and Ilizarov services under the direction and supervision of an Attending Orthopedic Surgeon
• Demonstrates open, accurate and timely communication with patients/families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective therapeutic intervention. Maintains competency, adheres to standards of practice, recognizes own learning needs to maximize professional development and optimal patient care

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years Orthopedic Technician experience
