Yale New Haven Health is seeking an Orthopedic Technician to support patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include cast application, brace and splint fabrication, DME application, and maintaining DME inventory.
Two years of orthopedic/ambulatory experience and certification in Orthopedic Technology or Medical Assistance is preferred. Must have anatomy knowledge and good manual dexterity to assist with lifting and positioning patients throughout the workday.

Under the supervision of the registered nurse, the orthopedic tech performs specific duties that support patient care. These duties include cast application, DME application, maintaining DME inventory, technical procedures, and direct and indirect patient care activities that are essential to providing comprehensive care to patients and contribute to the efficient operation of the clinic.

Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
Two (2) years of Orthopedic and/or Ambulatory experience required.
Licensure
Orthopedic Technician Certification or Medical Assistant certification preferred.
Special Skills
Must have a knowledge of anatomy and skill in cast application.
Physical Demand
Requires good manual dexterity; ability to use power equipment; assist with lifting patients, stand or walk most of the workday, and use good body mechanics.
