Job summary

Gildan is seeking a Manager I, Distribution/Warehouse – Facility Supervisor for the 2nd shift to lead a DC/MFG team, plan workflows and ensure safety, quality and productivity while meeting SLAs.

The role requires collaborative leadership, problem solving, and the ability to coordinate across departments to optimize throughput. WMS experience (Manhattan PKMS) and MS Excel are preferred, with a high school diploma and a related four-year degree desirable.

Qualifications

  • This entry-level supervisory position does not require prior experience.
  • 2 years comparable leadership experience including budgeting, financial analysis and/or productivity measurement is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prioritise workflow for the shift to meet customer SLAs and standards.
  • Lead and develop shift team, including interviewing, onboarding and performance management.
  • Drive Lean-based process improvements and cross-training for flexibility.
  • Provide leadership to the shift team to maintain safety, quality and productivity; coordinate with other departments.
  • Maintain and review timesheets, incentive/pay communications, attendance, and staffing schedules.
  • Produce shift reports and manage capacity and staffing to balance workloads.
  • Engage stakeholders to ensure performance and deliverables, and communicate status to management.

Manager I, Distribution/Warehouse – (Facility Supervisor – 2nd Shift) VAS/PP/Promo

Overview

This position is responsible for supporting all DC and/or MFG activities to ensure the shift(s) are run as efficiently, safely and productively as possible. It ensures that daily work is planned, executed and completed per facility standards. Demonstrates effective leadership and is accountable for exemplary performance of a DC or MFG team or shift. Typically, the team/shift/department supervised will be those accountable for receiving, unloading, recording, arranging, routing, transporting, and / or stocking of materials and products and/or picking, value‑added services and/or order fulfilment. The role is accountable to ensure operations, quality, service, cost, administration and system metrics and KPIs are achieved. It supervises team members and may be assisted by Specialists, Team Leaders and/or Group Leaders. It also has accountability for KPI achievement, training and morale of the shift/team/department. The position contributes to interviewing, selection, onboarding, training, motivating and performance management of team members and may be accountable to maintain and/or verify inventory records and transactions.

Responsibilities
  • Plans and prioritises workflow for the shift to create the sense of urgency needed to ensure all customer Service Level Agreements (SLA) are met. Promotes the highest level of expectations for achieving established standards in safety, quality and productivity.
  • Contributes to the interviewing, selection, onboarding, training, motivating, and performance management of shift team members.
  • Drives process improvement through Lean concepts and problem‑solving techniques. Ensures team members are sufficiently trained to perform their jobs and are cross‑trained to support other areas as necessary.
  • Provides leadership and oversight to the shift team to ensure the highest level of employee performance and morale while driving continuous improvement and managing change. Promotes an environment of learning and continuous growth by implementing and assessing systems and processes to make the workflow more effective. Coordinates with other departments as required to ensure the entire workstream is achieved.
  • Reviews and maintains associate timesheets, evaluates and edits incentive/pay communications, monitors attendance and develops staffing schedules.
  • Produces shift reports as required. Assesses shift workflows for stretch capacity requirements and coordinates staffing to meet increased or decreased workloads to maximise efficiencies and reduce cost during volatile demand swings across all shifts.
  • Interacts with internal and external stakeholders to assure shift performance and deliverables are achieved. Keeps facility manager and management team apprised of project/workflow status. Proactively implements course‑correction actions to avoid delays or underachievement.
Qualifications
Education / Certification
  • High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Education / Certification
  • Four‑year degree in a related field, e.g. Business, Engineering or Logistics / Supply Chain Management
Experience
  • This is an entry‑level supervisory position and does not require previous experience.
  • 2 years comparable work experience (defined as duties of a leader, similarly titled role). Work experience includes budgeting, financial analysis and/or productivity measurement/monitoring.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • DC or manufacturing operations and equipment experience is a plus.
  • General leadership experience in a DC or manufacturing facility.
  • Familiarity with WMS (Manhattan Software PkMS).
  • Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel.
