Occidental College seeks a part-time Cashier for Tiger Cooler, reporting to the Food Service Manager. You will handle ID checks, inter-department transactions, and cash payments, and use the Microsoft POS system to charge customers.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Reporting to Food Service Manager, the Cashier is responsible forhandling all ID checks, inter-departmental transactions, and cashpayments. They must be proficient in using the Microsoft POS systemto accurately charge customers. Additionally, the cashier isexpected to restock and rotate front-of-house items, maintain aclean and organized workspace, take orders correctly, andcommunicate effectively.

Job Duties
  • 40% - Charging customers using the POS system, taking all grilland pizza orders, and communicating with the cooks regarding anychanges or missing orders. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Delivering all completed orders to the cashier andportioning fried items for customers not ordering from designatedstations. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Receiving and stocking ready-made items such as sushi,ice cream, and yogurt. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Opening and closing registers and reconciling theirassigned cash box at the end of the shift. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Restocking and rotating all condiments, and assistingother facilities as needed. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent. Math skills to accuratelyreconcile cash and debit sales.
  • Six months of cashier, customer experience in a high-volumeenvironment, handling cash and card transactions.
  • Ability to speak and read English fluently.
  • Demonstrated ability to process food orders in an accuratemanner.
  • Ability to process customer transactions quickly andaccurately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Googledrives/folders/forms or any combination of productivity programsapplicable to position responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough;skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems andhandling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Strong commitment to a quality work product.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, inwriting and electronically.
  • Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability tocollaborate with a variety of constituencies.

  • Two years of experience cashiering and customer service in ahigh-volume environment, handling cash and card transactions.
