Cashier Team Member (Front End Service) - Part Time

Base pay range

$15.00/hr - $24.40/hr

Provides support as a member of the Customer Service & E-Commerce team, including assisting customers during checkout, performing cash register functions, bagging groceries, and working at the customer service desk. Maintains attractive displays and supports Whole Foods Market's customer service vision. All retail jobs require courteous, friendly, and efficient service, performed in accordance with store procedures. Customer Service & E-Commerce Team Members must be prepared to perform duties in other team roles as needed, support company values, promote initiatives, and adhere to health and safety regulations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Check out customer groceries efficiently and accurately.
  • Follow regulations concerning sale of alcohol and taxation.
  • Follow proper check, ATM, and credit procedures.
  • Use proper tare procedures for scalable items.
  • Clean and stock Front End areas, including registers.
  • Follow all cash handling procedures, exceeding variance policies.
  • Assist with training new Cashier Team Members.
  • Help control customer flow and reduce wait times.
  • Participate in company programs as directed.
  • Arrive on time, groomed, dressed appropriately, and ready to work; attend scheduled shifts and training.
  • Provide excellent customer service, address needs promptly, and model suggestive selling.
  • Maximize sales through proper product handling and merchandising.
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and regulatory procedures.
  • Maintain a clean environment and ensure equipment safety.
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties accurately.
  • Report safety hazards immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • For hires from November 2024 onwards, may be assigned shopper training and tasks within the Customer Service Team.
Job Skills

Experience
  • No prior retail experience required.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand/walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour shift.
  • Use hands for grasping, manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Bend, twist, squat, and reach.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Work in temperatures below 32°F, 32-40°F, and above 90°F.
  • Work in wet and cold environments.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Use tools and equipment like box cutters and heavy machinery.
  • May require ladders.
