Job summary

Salt & Light Ministries in Illinois is seeking a friendly Cashier Team Member who loves people and works well on a team to serve customers, volunteers, and staff with genuine hospitality.

As part of our store and outreach efforts, you will handle quick and accurate sales, assist shoppers, and maintain a welcoming environment consistent with our mission to fight poverty with dignity. This on-site role requires reliability and a willingness to learn our POS system.

Qualifications

• Work well with diverse staff, customers, and volunteers.
• Self-starter and solution-focused.
• Work efficiently in a team and independently.
• Ability to learn the organization’s digital point of sale.
• Ability to read, do basic math, and cash handling.
• Ability to stand, bend, and lift merchandise throughout an 8-hr. shift.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more with assistance.

• Quick and accurate sales transactions using the point of sale system.
