A Cashier rings customer orders on a cash register, operates the checkstand belt, handles Electronic Benefit Transfers, coupons, cash, and other forms of payment from customers according to store policy. Cashiers make pickups, perform fractional calculations quickly, and verbally communicate with customers. They balance the register and account for the receipts periodically during a shift and at the end of a shift. Cashiers stock product on shelves in various areas of the store, perform routine cleaning and sweeping functions around the store (including restrooms), and collect shopping carts from the parking lot.
