Job summary

Hy-Vee, Inc. is seeking a Checker/Stocker to support both cashiering and stocking duties in our store. This role involves greeting customers, processing transactions, and keeping shelves stocked for the next shopper.

We offer on-site work in a busy retail environment. No formal education or experience is required as training is provided. The position emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables.
• Perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a great customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and learning their names.
• Operate the cash register accurately and process all payment types.
• Count back change, issue receipts, and provide refunds or credit memos as needed.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines regarding WIC, food stamps, tobacco, liquor, and lottery items.
• Stock, face, rotate merchandise, and assist in other areas as needed.
• Maintain register area cleanliness and report improper cash levels.
