Job Purpose

The cashier’s main purpose is to efficiently and courteously ring up customers’ goods in a timely manner while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, polite, and knowledgeable service to customers.
• Greet customers and thank them for shopping at Adams.
• Ring out customers and manage the cash register.
• Count the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Check prices at the start of the shift.
• Set up the register with bags and carefully bag goods for customers.
• Maintain cleanliness around the register area.
• Familiarize yourself with the store layout and departments.
• Perform extra duties such as stocking shelves and cleaning, as needed.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Employees must be able to lift approximately 25 lbs., stand for long periods, process transactions accurately, memorize product codes, demonstrate basic math skills, and communicate effectively with customers and team members.
