Position Summary
The Cashier performs cashiering duties, including making cash transactions, verifying cash drawer, giving change, counting cash receipts, and completing cash reports. May also perform general food service work. Maintains sanitation standards in the service and dining room area. Responsibilities may vary based on business needs and client requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Verify cash at the beginning of each shift.
- Operate cash register, receive cash payments, and record amounts received.
- Compute bills, make change, cash checks, and issue receipts.
- Control and monitor cash levels in the drawer.
- Prepare transaction reports and verify totals against cash on hand.
- Handle credit card transactions and know product details as needed.
- Process refunds and operate ticket-dispensing machines.
- Complete customer purchases accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure all items are input into cash registers and menu boards.
- Open the facility 15 minutes prior to meal service.
- Secure the facility at the close of each meal period.
- Follow energy conservation, recycling, and food safety policies, including HACCP and Food Handlers Safety components.
- Attend all required safety, allergy, and foodborne illness training sessions.
- Report accidents and injuries promptly.
- Comply with safety, security, and property management policies, including OPSEC and GFP procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings and hazard assessments.
- Complete required training programs.
- Maintain security clearances and comply with Drug-Free Workplace policies.
- Adhere to safety and environmental standards per EM 385-1-1, OSHA, DOD, and other relevant regulations.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the supervisor or project manager.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills under pressure.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Experience as a cashier is required.
- Complete ServSafe Food Handler Certification within 30 days of employment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Education, Skills, and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience with the ALOHA POS system preferred.
- Effective organization, delegation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ambitious, target-focused, and driven to succeed.
- Ability to manage time effectively and resolve conflicts.
