Historic Hudson Valley, Westchester County’s largest cultural organization, seeks enthusiastic, computer savvy individuals to join its sales and hospitality team, selling merchandise and tickets in a fast-paced museum shop. Historic Hudson Valley (HHV) is a Westchester-based cultural non-profit that welcomes visitors to five National Historic Landmarks and presents public tours, school programs, and seasonal festivals for audiences that include suburban families seeking weekend leisure activities; K-12 teachers meeting curricular objectives and their students; and a diverse array of heritage tourists.HHV has a national reputation for groundbreaking on-site interpretation and award-winning digital content, particularly in the content areas of Northern slavery, regional women’s history, and storytelling.
Primary Responsibility:
The Sales Associate contributes to the success of Historic Hudson Valley’s retail operations by ensuring museum and event shop customers have positive experiences. This role supports retail management in achieving sales goals, in an efficient and courteous manner, to the highest professional standards. The Sales Associate follows direction established by the Associate Director of Retail.
·Drive sales by proactively engaging with visitors and determining their needs.
·Maintain a high level of customer service and selling standards.
·Deliver a friendly and efficient cash wrap experience, processing customer transactions accurately and efficiently at using a retail POS and ticketing system.
·Follow cash handling and accounting procedures.
·Maintain clean and orderly counters, shelves and displays.
·Take initiative to recover and replenish merchandise.
·Understands and adheres to visual merchandising standards.
·Open and close as scheduled.
·Draw visitors' attention to upcoming events.
·Assists with other projects as needed including markdowns, ticketing and re-ticketing; and inventory counts.
·Sell tour tickets and memberships.
·Additional responsibilities as assigned by Associate Director of Retail Operations
