Job description

The Cashier is responsible for interacting with customers as they enter and leave the retail store. The primary function of the Cashier is to provide excellent customer service. Hours vary, and there may be occasional night or weekend coverage needed.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

A. The Cashier reports directly to the Store Manager.

B. The Cashier has no direct supervisory authority.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Greet customers as they enter the retail store and assist with customer service questions.
2. Answer incoming telephone calls and handle appropriately.
3. Handle customer transactions utilizing the KCX cash register system.
4. Ensure accurate cash handling.
5. Price store merchandise as requested by store management.
6. Stock merchandise on shelves as requested by store management.
7. Handle customer returns.

OTHER DUTIES

Other duties as assigned.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Excellent customer service skills required.
2. Frequent lifting up to 25 pounds.
3. Long periods of standing.
4. Frequent bending and twisting.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS

1. Retail store environment.
2. Cold and warm conditions.
3. Irregular work schedule.

EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS

Computer, calculator, cash register/scanner, telephone, fax, copy machine, computer software, and network.
