Cashier

Position Objective: To assist customers in their shopping experience by processing sales transactions in the most efficient, friendly, and courteous manner possible.

Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Office Manager.

Status: This is a non-exempt position.

Knowledge

The following are certifications, formal education, or training requirements for this position:

• A valid liquor license must be obtained prior to the first day on the job (if applicable).
• Completion of ongoing training as listed on the Cosentino's Learning Plan.

Skills

Basic skill requirements include:

• Accurately processing payments via cash, check, gift cards, credit/debit cards, coupons, or other approved methods.
• Following procedures for government assistance programs.
• Issuing receipts and correct change.
• Identifying products by PLUs, scale, or produce number.
• Operating cash registers, scanners, check verification equipment, and intercom systems.
• Proper bagging and cashiering techniques to minimize damage and shrink.
• Maintaining a clean and professional front-end appearance.
• Resolving customer complaints professionally.
• Understanding and implementing Customer Service Standards.
• Adhering to health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
• Knowledge of store items, procedures, and policies to answer customer questions accurately and courteously.
