Position Summary

The Cashier utilizes a POS register and accepts payment. Prepares and serves concession items to guests. Prepares and pours beverages and serves them to guests. Ensures quality of food presentation. Must be able to maintain excellent attendance in accordance with the attendance policy.

This role will pay an hourly rate of $16.50, plus tips.

About the Venue

Cal Expo is home of the California State Fair. OVG is the food & beverage concessionaire for the fairgrounds.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct cash register sales by entering orders and completing transactions.
  • Maintain stock and supply levels; communicate low stock items to the Concessions Manager.
  • Listen and respond to customer requests or concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including disposal of garbage and cleaning dishes.
  • Serve beverages to guests, including alcoholic beverages responsibly. Check guest’s ID in accordance with state/federal regulations to verify minimum age requirement for purchase of alcoholic beverages. Must be RBS Alcohol and food handler certified.
  • Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be 18 or over.
  • Three or more months’ experience in the food service industry preferred.
  • Ability to learn to operate a POS register and corresponding system.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, positive attitude with co-workers, managers, volunteers, and guests.
  • RBS Alcohol and food handlers certifications required.
