Job summary

Scheels Overland Park is seeking a friendly cashier to greet customers, scan merchandise, handle payments, and provide an engaging shopping experience. You will balance the cash drawer, promote Scheels Visa, and encourage digital receipts while maintaining a clean checkout area.

Typical schedule runs Monday–Saturday between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., with about 20 hours per week. The role emphasizes teamwork, integrity, and ownership culture through our ESOP framework.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required or preferred.
• 1–3 months cashiering experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Scan items, ring up purchases, and ensure payment is completed.
• Balance cash drawer and perform basic math for transactions.

Compensation:

Earn $16:00 per hour plus GREAT Associate Discount on all in store purchases.

Schedule:

Must be flexible to work assigned schedule between 9a.m. and 9p.m., Monday through Saturday, 10a.m. and 6p.m., Sunday. Schedule may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays, must be available minimum of every other weekend or 2 weekends a month. Average hours per week is 20 hours.

Responsibilities:

• Greet all customers with a smile when entering and exiting the store
• Enhance the customer experience by engaging in conversation while providing personalized service and consistently meeting the goals of the digital receipt program
• Accurately scan every item customers are purchasing, ensuring all merchandise is properly rung through and paid for before the customer leaves the store
• Treat merchandise with care, and bag purchases carefully and efficiently
• Promote the Scheels Visa card and clearly explain all benefits
• Ask every customer to sign up for digital receipts
• End each transaction by saying “thank you” to every customer
• Perform basic math, calculate discounts, make change, and accurately balance the cash drawer
• Operate the computerized register system and follow all cash handling policies
• Maintain an awareness of in-store events and promotionsKeep the checkout area stocked and clean

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• 1-3 months of cashiering experience preferred

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
