Job summary

Scheels All Sports, Inc. is hiring a friendly cashier in Overland Park, KS. Earn $19.00 per hour with excellent associate discounts and ESOP benefits. Must be flexible to work varied hours between 9am–9pm, Mon–Sat, with some Sundays; approx. 40 hours weekly.

Responsibilities include greeting customers, processing transactions, promoting digital receipts and Scheels Visa, and balancing the cash drawer daily. Prior cashiering preferred; HS diploma or GED required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1-3 months of cashiering experience preferred.
  • Retail cashier experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all customers with a smile when entering and exiting the store.
  • Engage customers with conversation, provide personalized service, and promote digital receipts.
  • Scan items accurately and ensure they are rung and paid for before leaving.
  • Bag purchases carefully and keep the checkout area stocked and clean.
  • Promote the Scheels Visa card and explain benefits.
  • Encourage customers to sign up for digital receipts.
  • Balance cash drawer and perform basic math for transactions.
  • Operate the computerized register system following cash handling policies.
  • Stay aware of in-store events and promotions.

Compensation:

Earn $19.00 per hour plus GREAT Associate Discount on all in store purchases.

Schedule:

Must be flexible to work assigned schedule between 9a.m. and 9p.m., Monday through Saturday, 10a.m. and 6p.m., Sunday. Schedule may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays, must be available minimum of every other weekend or 2 weekends a month. Average hours per week is 40 hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet all customers with a smile when entering and exiting the store
  • Enhance the customer experience by engaging in conversation while providing personalized service and consistently meeting the goals of the digital receipt program
  • Accurately scan every item customers are purchasing, ensuring all merchandise is properly rung through and paid for before the customer leaves the store
  • Treat merchandise with care, and bag purchases carefully and efficiently
  • Promote the Scheels Visa card and clearly explain all benefits
  • Ask every customer to sign up for digital receipts
  • End each transaction by saying "thank you" to every customer
  • Perform basic math, calculate discounts, make change, and accurately balance the cash drawer
  • Operate the computerized register system and follow all cash handling policies
  • Maintain an awareness of in-store events and promotions
  • Keep the checkout area stocked and clean

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1-3 months of cashiering experience preferred

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
