Job summary

Goodwill of Monocacy Valley is hiring to support a busy Frederick, MD store. The role involves running registers, assisting customers, and promoting sales while maintaining the floor standards and merchandising. You will greet customers, handle payments, and help with donations at the point of sale.

The position requires a high school level of education, strong customer service and math skills, and the ability to pass a background check. Must be 16 or older and fluent in English.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent experience.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent math skills preferred.
• Ability to communicate and understand instructions in English.
• Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable.
• Ability to speak and read English proficiently.

Responsibilities

• Performs POS responsibilities and processes all forms of payments.
• Solicits cash donations at POS from customers.
• Establishes prices of goods based on merchandise type and markings.
• Completes closing procedures as needed.
• Maintains regular in-person attendance and greets customers.
• Keeps sales floor standards and stocks merchandise as assigned.
• Uses phones and paging systems for announcements.
• Maintains a clean and safe store environment.

Position Description

Works as a member of the store team to lead an excellent customer and brand experience, and promote sales for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities. Responsible for running registers as well as working to maintain sales floor standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs Point of Sale (POS) responsibilities and processes all forms of payments.
• Asks each customer for cash donations at POS.
• Establishes or identifies prices of goods via the type of merchandise, identifying markings, or asking for help from an on-site leader.
• Completes closing procedures, as necessary.
• Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.
• Greets customers that enter in the store and thanks customers leaving the establishment.
• Maintains sales floor by following floorwork and PPM (picture process map) standards.
• Stocks merchandise in appropriate area as assigned.
• Utilizes systems, including phones and paging systems to make regularly scheduled announcements.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment.
• Models Goodwill Core Values - Trust, Collaboration, Engagement, Ownership, and Innovation.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned.
