OPPORTUNITY
The Cashier is responsible for creating an inspiring experience for our guests. They give outstanding hospitality by meeting and exceeding our guests’ expectations and providing excellent internal hospitality to the team. Their responsibilities include assisting in the smooth and seamless operations of the business, reaching store goals, upholding product quality and consistency standards, controlling inventory levels and mitigating waste, maintaining equipment and facilities, and safely handling all of our products and equipment. They are part of a cohesive Bi-Rite team that supports the Bi-Rite Missions, Vision, and Community Values.
Responsibilities
- Welcomes guests, provides assistance monitoring the entrance and exit of our retail location, assists with our guest shopping service, and supports the smooth operations of Front of the House, Produce, and Market departments.
- Assists guests quickly and accurately, answers phones promptly and courteously.
- Performs all cash handling, register functions, alcohol sales, and returns to Bi-Rite standards.
- Maintains working knowledge of PLU codes for produce, flowers, and other merchandise.
- Bags groceries according to guest specifications and department best practices.
- Keeps the business running smoothly by restocking, cleaning, organizing coffee and pastry offerings, utensils and napkin station, shopping carts, baskets and waste bins.

Qualifications
- Six months retail and food service experience recommended.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Fluency in the English language, spoken and written.
- ServSafe Certification, California Food Handler card is required within 30 days post-hire. Bi-Rite provides on-site training and certification.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
